I guess the pathos of this video was mostly at the beginning, part of the middle, and the end. There was a lot of pathos, but the most obvious was when the movie started showing pictures of people smoking and how it related to their children. The logos of the clip was clearly the part where the narrator was speaking about how smoking could affect the child in the car, though this also had some slight pathos elements to it, it was mostly a logos statement from my point of view. I would say the ethos part of the film was definitely the part where the movie's creator presented her information on the camera, showing how what she was saying was actually backed my real facts. Overall a good film, seemed to have a lot of work put into it. I wouldn't see more facial expression on the ethos part though. Even though she is not trying to make a pathos appeal, it still helps the people watching to understand what she is actually saying if she shows at least some facial expression. I don't know how she talked through that whole thing without once showing any emotion, I know that would be hard for me!
The Ethos in her project was when she said she was a scientist at a university this gave her reaserch credibility. I like how she seperated her animoto part of the film ,because it helped her ideas really stand out . One of the big ideas that she got across ,was more of a pathos, was the point that second hand smoking hurts babies. This shows the emotional side because pe0ple can relate. Baby's are the off spring of humans so it really touches the heart more than just second hand smoke being a problem. This pathos helps everyone identify because everyone once was a baby ,or for some have children and know the importance of having healthy offspring or becoming a healthy person. I really enjoyed it ,especially how she used the a real baby too put it in more prospective. Over all it was a really great video.
The ethos of this commercial is when she states she is a doctor with the University Research Foundation. The logos was also during the video stating the health effects of second hand smoke and why vehicles are major culprites. The pathos can be found through out the commercial and is mostly children or babies. Another pathos was the sight of smoke in the pictures. The commercial made me feel sad for children whose parents smoke. They are not choosing to be exposed; the parents are choosing for them. In junior high I had a friend whose mother had died from lung cancer. The mother had never smoke a day in her life, but her husband did. People do not realize when they smoke they filter what they inhale, but those loved ones around them have no filter. This can make smoking worse for those around the smoker. I feel the commercial did a great job at informing people why not to smoke in cars.
In this video the animoto at the beginning was a very well done pathos view. It gave us an emotional feeling especially the pictre with the cloud of smoke around the sleeping baby. The ethos was when she said she was a doctor from a research foundation. The logos was when she explained the effects that smoking has on the body. The animoto parts do a great job of hitting an emoitional chord with people. Especially people with children like me. I am an off and on smoker, but never smoke around my daughter and cannot imagine her sitting in a car surrounded by a cloud of smoke.
The project had a good mixture of ethos, logos and pathos. Although all three examples of appeals were used I felt that the pathos was the most influential. Strong emotions were conjured up as I viewed the babies and toddlers being exposed to secondhand smoke. you established the ethos appeal in the beginning by stating your credentials. Logos was evident because you gave the facts concerning secondhand smoke and therefore one could logically understand the harmful effects.
